If you want to know exact production numbers for ALL W140s from 1999 to 2000 open this site:

www.mb-W140.de

Then click on "Produktionszahlen" on the left column.

S600 1992 is not rare period. Parts are now cheap except for the throttle actuator, you can't find the harness anywhere in the world, its specially made my some hobbiest of the S600. Don't be fool by the nightmare story you hear. Once you have fixed the harness and change the climate control module, the rest will break due to wear and tear, much like any other mercedes benz, enjoy the power and let is rip.

My understanding is that you can find more 94 and up s 600's but how hard is it to find a 92 s600? I have yet to been able to find one for sale. ANd I know I can look at the blue book price, but is that the true value even though there hard to find?

That's because there is no such beast. There are 1994 S600's, but no such thing as a 1992 or 1993 S600. Same chassis, same engine - but the 1992 and 1993 MY's were badged as "600SEL".

will70724 01-14-2007 06:52 PM

sorry, I cant get use to calling them a SEL 600, It just doesnt sound right to me especially when 99 percent of the cars I see are a s500 or s600. It just sounds so much better.

Hatterasguy 01-14-2007 07:21 PM

Its 600SEL.

It means:
600 6L engine
S sounderklass(sp???) Germans rusty its like the top, best ect.
E Einspritzung
L LWB

In model year 1993, 1994 for the states they changed it.

will70724 01-14-2007 07:53 PM

Im sorry I must of missed it but what does this stand for??

S sounderklass(sp???) Germans rusty its like the top, best ect.
E Einspritzung
L LWB

6L, long wheel base, fuel injected, S class=600SEL.

1st and 2nd Gen LS400s may be mechanically sound (I work on a 240K one) but the interior is sub-par. Leather is poor, carpeting on panels falls off, etc... '98+ seem to be holding up better.

I've seen tired 80s 126s with better interiors still. Aside from the interior aspect, paint is holding up well as is the motor. Done the timing belt once.

Anyway, I wouldn't take an early 600.

There are many more S500's and S320's available.

will70724 01-15-2007 01:15 AM

if anyone can find a link that shows how much primarily a 92 s600 is selling for in very good condition I would love to see it. I cant seem to find anything sold like that.

Search autotrader and ebay for comps. You should be able to come up with a bunch pretty quick.
