center steering wheel

had the tie rod bar done on my 1999 c230 and now the steering wheel is off by a bit. Can i remove it and center it without tripping th eairbag light? If i trip the light can i just clear the code with my ob2 scanner?

thanks

Replacing a tie rod throws off the front end geometry. Even if you think you measured everything perfectly before, during, and after the replacement, it's not going to be perfect. You will need to get an alignment. Don't bother messing with the steering wheel - everything will be good again after the alignment. By the way, a standard OBD2 scanner will NOT reset the airbag light - you will need to go to the dealer or find a good indy who has the appropriate (expensive) scanner and pay them to reset the light. 1/2 to 1 hour shop labor charge is typical for this type of service.

If previously removing and reinstalling the wheel is what has caused the wheel to be off center, then yes obviously you will have to do it again until you get it straight. If you remove the airbag with the battery removed it *shouldn't* trigger your SRS light. But i've never worked on the 202 or 203 so I can't be positive. To be sure, you should use the search function above and do more research.
