I need to replace shocks and struts in the near future and I was thinking of using KYB brand. One source tells me that KYB is not recommended for Mercedes and suggested Blistiens. Is there any particular reason that I shouldn't use KYB brand? Any comments are appreciated.

Thanks

THEY are *cheap*! Won't last as long as OE. Try BOGE or Bilstein if you want Quality & long life. IF $$$ is the only concern & you aren't keeping the car than KYB it.

for what its worth, and I know others have more experience in this regard, but I've got a '74 BMW cs that has had the same KYBs for 18years and I discovered that my '87 wagon has them too! Ride is fine handles well etc. I probably wouldn't put them on a E420 or E55, but on the old diesel, they work OK. And with my driving style to and from the airport, I just can't tell the difference, not to say there isn't a difference. They do have one nice feature, though, if the shocks ever quit working properly, the local dealer said he would replace them for free. Even the 18 year old ones. Try that with Boge.
