W123 230e

Hello folks,

I'm Daniel from Toronto,Canada

I'm new to this forum, always had little Japanese cars , nevertheless I have a passion of classic cars.

I am currently considering to make a purchase of 1984 W123 230E in Canada.

I understand that this model has Inline 4 M102.980 engine which was never available in US or Canada.

The vehicle was imported from Germany and currently has 140,000 kms.

My question is: can anyone tell me the technical specification of this motor?

Ie.: Timing chain or timing belt?, how hard is it to find parts for the motor in Canada especially? Do local part store like NAPA sell maintenance parts for this particular motor?

As for maintenace and wear and tear, what are the typical works have to be done at 140000kms?

Thank you for your help.

I apologize if my questions are too long.

the engine has a chain i am pretty sure. the engine i believe is the same as the 2.3 in the 190e of the same era. the engine parts mostly should cooincide with that. the chassis parts the same as a 123 240d or 300d.

any part that cannot be found as noted above you should be able to take the number off of and order from your favorite mb parts guy.

like phil at fast lane.

should make a nice car.
