what cleaner to use to clean bulb sockets?
i'm 99% sure the "lamp defective" warning i'm getting in my car is due to the sidemarker bulb sockets. i put in new bulbs and they light up fine, but i still get the warning. the sockets look very dirty and have lots of green/grey crud on them, what can i use to thoroughly clean the sockets?
thanks..

Any metal/brass polish, applied with a rag.

Pencil with an eraser on the end can help get down in those tight spots to polish the contacts.

I would add to the list:
Die-electric grease (auto parts stores carry it). Once you've cleaned the contacts with one of the above products, apply a bit of the grease to the same contacts. Especially those that are exposed to the environment.

An eraser works great. I know a lot of people who use that technique. Brass polish is also a good idea. Both of those are great for tarnish. But your deposits may be heavier than just tarnish. A tiny metal brush may be what you need. You could probably get one from a place that sells soldering kits like an electronic supply house.
