Intermittent Warning Lights

I have a 2000 C280 sport with 51,000 miles. Recently started to get intermittent warning lights - gas tank low when 3/4 full, wrench indicating 100 miles past service due, check engine light and partial numbers on the clock display. Any suggestions as to what's goin on or should I take it to the shop and have them look for stored trouble codes. Thanks for your input.
