S420 sometimes stalls when going in reverse

Its happened twice, today being the second time. Ill be reversing out of a parking spot and it will shake a little and shut off.

it will start back up without any hesitation, no dummy lights lit up. The last time it happen was in the same situation, backing out of a parking spot. Probably a week ago.

could be a lot of things, can you give more data to your problem? check on your vacuum lines, reverse cable adjustment, transmission modulating valve pressure reading etc.

I had a car short the ignition with the back up light switch in the transmission. A weaker battery after a start , could drop below min. voltage for the ignition to operate. Try it with the back switch disconnected.

Yeah, when my MB was stalling in the summer and I asked this, the list was about a mile long on what it "could" be and mine is a 1985. Wouldn't think it would be that complex, but it obviously is. I have been given new info here on some things I should try.

Good luck to you.

Its probably a vacuum leak, or an electrical problem. I'd consult the FSM, time to buy the DVD set for the W140!
