caution to all
while a lot of forum members are openly willing to help, suggest, share ideas on most technical issues, lets all be carefull too, I've notice a lot of forum suggestions and ideas can cause more harm than good to individuals with tech problems , hoping that those who are good hearted and have real knowledge on tech issues continue to share their thoughts and precise experience, and for those who try to pretend to know things, may you guys keep your peace and silence and hope you'll learn to stop pretending to know and share wrong ideas. lets all make this forum a truely resourceful site for those who needed professional assistance.

Everybody has different issues with their car. Most of us have gone through common issues previously. But remember, it's not like we can look at each car individually. We might have similar symptoms brought on by different causes. All we can do is offer solutions that helped us fix our problems. Once a while we are spot on, and sometimes we are wrong.
Which ever way, we are suggesting and there is no implied guarantee that what we say will totally fix "your" issue. Research, research, research. Or pay a mechanic to do it for you. Personally I have saved a crapload of money with these forums.

when i'm reading a thread and it's obvious to me that there has been conflicting info given.i will shortly and concisely add my weight behind what i know to be the correct answer.i doubt anyone is deliberately posting incorrect answers to questions.i'm sure that they are always giving it their best shot.[two or three or four heads are always better than one]

Personaly this forum has saved me many thousands. But you get what you pay for and this forum is free... I don't think anyone should try to work on there Mercedes without a FSM. With said FSM you can then see the proper procedures, and use the forum to clear up things that may not understand.
If you do not feel comfortable working on a Mercedes bring it to a shop.

That's why we're all here - to keep each other honest and catch misinformation. I've been on both sides of this. I can only hope others will catch any misinformation I may inadvertently give.

This is the Internet....and I take everything with a grain of salt. I'd much rather
get a potpourri of ideas rather than to wait for some corporate line fix (which also occurs) and can cost hundreds of dollars more. Anyone who follows blindly be more cautious.

i think there is a lot more help than hurt here.
we all make mistakes but usually it doesn't take long for someone to correct. myself i am very familiar with the 123 body cars and occasionally will respond to someone with information that is correct for a 123 but not correct for a 124. when that happens i am soon reminded of it. and of course that is what i want, tom w

sorry guys I use the WIS and the Star for information, maybe MB Germany was wrong in sending us the Star diagnosis which indicates what I share in the forum. Again there is a sequence if you really need to change the whoel ATF fluid, you will have to use a special tool and cannot just drain and pour in fluid, be my guest do what you think may be right and who knows its not me whos going to spend to repair. GOOD LUCK GUYS.

Cool, I remember a number of posts where YOU were the one presenting misinformation, and WE had to set things straight. You're preaching to the choir!
Screwed-up ATF Change at dealership, help! Mixing Dino Oil and Syn to Make Syn Blend, Good Idea? Most of the time you do a wonderful job contributing information, but your thoughts on lube maintenance are out of line with the rest of us.

just to share with you the technical logic , if you drain the whole fluid including the one inside the torque converter, what will happen is it takes time for the new fluid to reach the torque converter and while the TC is running on dry, it starts to break the o rings and the seal specially the piston which woudl be rubbing agaisnt metal parts in the cylinder. I hope this gives you a little better idea why it is so (as per service manual for all electronic tranny) . No bad blood intended, I am here to promote technical ideas and means for a lot of us who cannot or would want to save $ in maintaining MB vehicles. My companies are based oversea, so nothing to loose for me if I share it with the owners of MB in the USA. I live in NY.
