Removal of spark plug end on distributor cap?
What is a safe way to remove the spark plug ends on the cover for the distributor cap on my 1992 300-E. They seem very tight and I do not what to force them in fear of damage?
Thank You Bob Geco |

I think there is a special tool that is made to remove plug wires, but failing that, you can try a pair of pliers on the end of the plug wires, with a couple folds of shop towel between the metal and the rubber plug terminal to protect it. Pull on it firmly, while turning and wiggling it a little bit to help break the connectors free.
When reinstalling, may want to try using a very thin layer of dielectric grease on the insulators of the distributor cap to keep the rubber from sticking too hard to the cap. |

Next question firing order 300-E 1992
I got a reply to my question about tough spark plug terminal ends and how to remove them from the distributor cap cover for my 1992 300-E.
What I have done so fare is remove theplastic face plate that covers the spark plugs to trace them to the distributor cap. I was going to take some small fle folder stickers and lable each plub leed to the distributor cap. I was wondering the firing order may help me better . It seems I may be dislexit when it comes to simple matter like these. But I am trying to learn so I don't screw up. I have a new distributor cap & roter and o ring ready plus the nessary tools for the job. Sorry for the questions on such a simple task . Bob Geco |
