Vacuum connection in fender wall

There is a vaccume connection in the engine compartment on the drivers side that routes into the fender wall. What does that feed?

1986 420 SEL

May be it is the connection to the regeneration valve

the charcoal cannister,for trapping excess gas fumes from gas tank.

If it is a hard plastic line, it's a vacuum tank. It stores vacuum, probably for climate control.

David S poole s right its usually installed on the 126 petrol engine
