Which oil for 190e 2.6?
Can't believe that I can't find this in a search, but here it is: which weight of oil do these cars like in warm weather? 20W/50? 10W/40? It's an '89 w/ 120k miles if that makes a difference.
I haven't owned this engine before, so I am not familiar w/ it yet. Does it have hydraulic lifters? (No valve adjustment)? If so, I would imagine that the correct weight of oil is very important. The owners manual gives several choices, but I'm sure that people here can give me some informed opinions. TIA. ![]() |

oil for the 190e 2.6
Dear PT. ,my manual calls for 5w-20 or 5w-30 below -14f, 10w-30 +50 to-4,20w-40 or 20w-50 +86 to +5, 15w-40 & 15w-50 +86 to +5, 10w-40or 15w-50 for +86f to -4f. This winter in Colorado hi country, I am running 10w-40, by july will have the 15w-50. Trust this will answer you oil question, Regards, Moonshine,(Don't ask)

I am using 10W40 because 20W50 is hard to find but I would prefer 20W50.
