2" Water Hose Above Ppump
From what I have read on a 89 300E, when the small hose is going bad, I have to remove the water pump. Since I am removing the pump, I am thinking of replacing it not knowing the age of the current pump. What else should I be replacing while I have these pieces out? The tensioner sometimes makes a little noise when starting then quiets down. Suggestions

Actually it looks like the side of the hose clamp is cutting into the rubber hose.

that would seem to eliminate the possibility of it being loose.

Some people cut a bit of the pump to get a new hose in, never tried this myself.
The noise from the tensioned may by the bearing of the small pulley, these pulley’s can be replaced and are not very expensive. Cleaning the engine with high pressure cleaner blows the grease out and the bearings will fail. Rob |
