Putting a 210 on jackstands

How? The thing is defeating me. I can jack the front via the crossmember and the rear via the differential case, but not if the other end is in the air.

Do I really need to spring for a lift? Is it possible to jack it via the pads on the rocker panels?

I use the pads as my lift point for my floor jack.

Never had any problem but also have never had any reason to do all four corners either.

I use the frame adjacent to the front pads to support the front. Fits the saddle of my jack stands well.

Think I would get the front up first then lift the center rear.

Once the front is on the stands, the jack that I have (which isn't all that small) won't reach the rear differential and still allow any movement of the handle. If the rear is up, the jack won't even get anywhere near the front crossmember.

I want to get all four wheels off the ground to facilitate some maintenance, including differential and transmission fluids, flex disks, and probably front bushings.

Mines a 3 ton sears model. Is maybe 5" and extends to 18" or so.

Maybe park one end or the other up on a 2 x 4 first to gain some height?

My goodness, I think we have a winner.

I'll try that. It will probably give me just enough.

You should never jack up a car with an independent rear suspension from the diff. You can/will cause damage, sometimes you can get away with it, but still its not a good idea.

Those four handy dandy jack points MB built in work well.

I have used the included screw jack it does lift pretty high and works well, also free's up the pad for a proper jack stand.

With the front on stands, I did attempt to lift from the rear pad. The car lifted off of the front stand, which was not acceptable.

I did jack it on the differential, which works but flexes stuff enough that you should be afraid.

It's now up on four stands, two on the front frame member where it joins the body, the rear on stands sitting right inside of the rear pads. It seems quite stable.

It's draining its differential fluid now. I've never gotten a really close look at the flex disks before, since only the front was up. The rear looks perfectly good, but there are some surface cracks in the rubber on the front. I suppose it's time.
