1995 S500, engines wont exceed 4500 rpm, acts like fuel cut off. Bad fuel pump Relay
Car will not exceed 4500rpm, acts like rev limiter. Is it a fuel pump relay? Or....?

If "stationary" in anything other than N or P is it even possible to get it up to 4500rpm and remain stationary?
BTW Arthur- There is a 2nd thread where the person has no speedo AND abs/asr issues. http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/showthread.php?t=184610 No disrespect intended Arthur and in all seriousness I'll be very interested in your reply given the speedo/abs/asr info. Ps: I7tom - the forum works better if you get it ALL out in the open in ONE place at ONE time; then folks like Arthur can actually help you through your issues.

That is short-hand for 'Is the 4500 rpm when the car is stationary, ie, in N or P.. or does it limit rpm when driving down the road.
Reason being. there is a torque converter RPM limiter that is activated when the car is stationary, but over -ridden by the Vehicle Speed Sensor circuit when the cars VSS senses over 8 mph.. ie- not stationary.. Many complaints about rev limit are posted without making that distinction, where the poster does not know that in N/P that is NORNAL limit for converter saftey... I believe that the ABS, ASR lights on and Speedo in operative, could be related. In all gears at various road speed it will shut down at 4500RPM, likewise it does the same in P and N.

That is b/c the rev limit over-ride circuit is not responding to car movement, [ verified by no speedo], so with abs lamp, etc. . I would suspect a wheel speed sensor..and I would look at the left/front first as I think that one is also speedo.. not sure on that point, but should be one of the fronts..
Do a search on it... Check the fuses too.. |
