99 SL500 won't crank
I have a 99 sl500 that was stored for the winter. When I went to get it the battery was dead. I replaced the battery and now the car won't crank. All lights on dash come on, but when you turn key all the way to the right, won't crank. Tried locking and unlocking with key and remote to try and reset security system but still nothing. Seems like there is a starter interupt activated. Even when I turn key in the on position and jump small wire on starter, engine will crank but not start. When I get back in car, try to start and it will not crank. Hope someone can help.

won't start
Try putting the car in neutral, it could be the neutral start safety switch

99 sl
Tried moving shifter. Even with key on and jumping starter, engine will crank and not start. When you turn the key on all lights work on dash and when you turn key all the way, lights all stay the same, but won't crank. Thats why I tend to believe it is an alarm problem. Is there a fuse for the alarm that if I remove it will disable the starter interupt?

If i remeber right the starter will be disabled only if the alarm is triggered
so it could be the switch. Turn you headlights on and try to start it dothe go dim at all

Same problem
with a 99 slk...........new battery but will not crank and the lights dim when try to start........i also think its an alarm problem...do the slks have a cut out switch or something stopping the fuel getting through.
Thanks |
