I have a 1987 420 SEL with a fuel gage needle that jumps around. I would like to clean and/or replace the fuel level sending unit, but don't know how to get to it.
I would appreciate any directions on how to get to this unit.

In the 300E you access it from in the trunk. It's about right under the third brake light. Perhaps yours is the same.

Remove the rear seat upper section, as you look at the back rest you will see on the upper right corner,a large nut with wires. you found it, JNT
