tune up time- 1989 300te...

Tune up time...1989 300te. During the last rainfall, my car wouldn't start. I am going to assume water in the dist. cap (the weather guard fell off long time ago). The engine had new plugs/ wires cap about 2 years ago...about 25,000 miles...New York/ Long Island weather.
What plugs do I get? Do I have to get overpriced MB wires? Does everyone use the dist. cap weather guard? I will do an air cleaner. Anything else I should know or purchase? I do not have access to a dealer near by, so I try to mail-order...but I am not opposed to an "Auto Zone" if the wires are better. Dat's it.
