Anyone here use Mobil 1 on '99 or earlier MB models?
Did u feel any difference between mobil 1 and the regular ones? is it really worth it to use Mobil 1?

I use it in my 93' 300SL. I have been using it in my 96 Corvette since it was delivered from the factory with it in the crankcase.

I don't really notice any difference, but I do believe in the product, so I use it.

I use Mobil1 in my '98 ML. I get between 10 and 15 miles more per tank of gas. The engine seems to rev up faster but it's noisier as well. Also engine operating temperature seems to have gone up by about 2 degrees from around 83C to 85C.

Its the best! The models and the wife feel the differance and keep asking what that great new stuff is that I'm using.

and can i bought mobil 1 from other place and bring it to MB and let MB using the Mobil 1 i bought instead of using theirs when they change the oil for me?

For all FSS cars Mercedes Benz recommends synthetic. The dealers have gobs of Mobil1 so you don't have to bring your own. If you're looking for a price break you might save a few cents if you purchase at Walmart. But the difference will be quite minimal. You probably spend more money in gas driving over to the Walmart than if you just took the car right in.

You could change it yourself for the price of the oil, filter, and a liquivac extractor which is available here from PartsShop at the top of your screen!

thanx and yes, I know they recommend Synthe..but for my warranty they have to use the conventional ones...they will charge me if I want to use Mobil 1
I know I probably will not save money, but I want to know if MB would be willing to service my car using the oil I brought

It depends on the dealer. If you're stuck with just one dealer in your neighbourhood, well, tough. Some dealers will automatically use Mobil1 on all FSS cars and work that into the price of the A or B service. You can check A and B service prices on the web. It doesn't hurt to call around and check. And NO, your warranty doesn't require conventional oil.

To my knowledge, your car should only be having syntetic put in it. Is it still under warranty?
If it's FSS, then is should be operating off of synthetic.

My car is still under warranty, it is a 99 one
and I thought synthetic are better to be put in FSS cars than those that are not

Well, I believe the system is designed to run on synthetic oils. I wouldn't use anything but in a car with FSS, ESPECIALLY if you are going by FSS.

On my 99 E300D, the dealer has been putting in regular oil.
This past March 23, 2001, MBUSA sent out a letter indicating that "pure synthethic oil is now the only engine lubricant recommended by Mercedes-Benz for 1998 and 1999 model year vehicles equipped with FSS".

I expect the switch to Mobil 1 at my next oil change.

My '98 C43 AMG, like all AMG cars, comes from the factory with Mobil 1 and, of course, I continue to use it.

I bought my daughter an '88 420SEL with 75,000 miles (a grandparents' car that had been little driven in the last five years) and promptly after getting it replaced all the fluids: oil (replaced with Mobil 1), brakes, transmission, steering and differential fluids and had the cooling system flushed and refilled. Am changing the Mobil 1 every 3,000 miles (had the first change recently). Car runs smoothly and no oil leaks

So if all cars are suppose to run on Mobil one, why does my dealer still want to charge me?
