Most likely the fuel pump relay.

Highly likely that the magnetic sensor on the ring gear is bad. They get flakey when they heat up. Some people refer to this sensor as the crank position sensor. It is located on the left side of the engine where the bell housing meets the block behind the cylinders. Difficult to get to.

Not thinking fuel pump relay as I can smell fuel and hear the pumps running as I crank.Would the crank shaft position sensor likely fail at the same time every morning? And is there a test for the sensor?Thank you

posistion sensor
Mike look up a post I have, it will show you the sensor, and the unorthodox way I fixed it,you can get a wrench on one bolt but the other I could not so I drilled a hole to access the other bolt,A plastic cap sits on top of the unit,It just pops off.The two bolts hold a bracket of aluminum,in which the sensor resides.

NO I do not, but until I spent the time to Analise how it was PUT TOGETHER I beet, pried, pushed, used a lot of not so nice words, and two days or more before it fell out in my hand, and it was suddenly fixed. JNT

Quick bump on this post - my 85 380SE won't start. Could this crankshaft position sensor be my problem? It was running fine, parked it last Tuesday night, and it wouldn't start again. I have spark and fuel (I think - at least from pulling one of the plugs after cranking), so I can't figure out what's wrong. See my parallel thread here:

No this would probably not be your problem as mine was no spark. The TDC sensor sends signal to the ignition control telling it to spark. No signal no spark.Sorry to hear about your problem as I an not familiar with your particular car I will leave it to some on else to point you in the right direction.
