Question on Idle 260E 1988
Hi everybody,
I would like to know if the air necessary to the engine at idle is going only through Idle control valve or though throttle body? Is throttle flap completely closed at idle? or slighty open to allow some air to go to engine? Engine is M103 on 260E 1988 euro Thanks for your help I like to know how things work

Idle air bypasses the throttle but not the airflow meter. The throttle can not be closed totally though or it would stick. The throttle has a stop to prevent this from happening and plays no part in idle adjustment.

Thanks you stevebfl,
this helps me to better understand. I messed up the adjustment screw; and now I m trying to get back to the right setting of the stop. Then if I understand correctly I should close as much as possible the throttle with the adjustment of the stop screw without sticking. Am I right?

Yes, that is exactly what to do. Close it just as far as can be done without it sticking.

thank you stevebfl for such quick replies.
Do you think I have to do it with all MAF and Distributor removed of just by feeling without looking to the throttle?
