95 E320 sticking aux fan

One of the two aux fans on my 95 E320 occasionally will not run when it's supposed to. If I manually give it a nudge, it starts spinning. Any tricks for this problem? Service CD describes removal of radiator and ac condenser just to replace the fan--say it ain't so......
