Installing voltage regulator

I was trying to install my new voltage regulator today but it happened to get dark as I was trying to get it in. Anyone know a specific way to get it in there so I can just pop it in when I go back at it tommorow? I hear its pretty easy so im probably doing something wrong. Thanks in advance!

On your 300E the voltage regulator installation is the reverse of removal ... 2 screws hold it in place ... push in the brushes on the new one to facilitate installation.

I replaced my voltage regulator recently in my '86 300E. I used a small peice of string to hold the brushes down and it slipped right in. One the regulator is almost in carefully slip the string out and you are all set.
