The tach , gas & oil pressure gauges , & speedo went out this morning. The clock , & the vacuum & temperature gauges still work. Any ideas on where to start looking for a problem ? Thank you.

Internal cluster ground.

this happened to me a few weeks ago and it was only a blown fuse. i would try that. let me know what happens. thank you

Thanks for the reply Steve. Does an internal cluster ground entail the removal of the full panel that holds the gauge cluster for repair ?

Thanks for the reply Petra.Where is the fuse located ? The owners manual was of no help in that regard. I also checked the fuse box under the hood ( no blown fuses )& the fuse chart on the fuse box lid.

Does your car have a fuse for the instrument cluster? I think that the 1995 C280 that Petra has is electronic, with electrical wires controlling them. Thus a blown fuse cutting out the electronics of the cluster. Yours seems like it would be cable-driven, though I could very well be wrong. Just a thought. But I'd still definitly check for a fuse because not only the speedo is out, but other gauges too.

Thanks for the reply David. I went back & checked for an auxiliary fuse box. I double checked the main box again & found fuse number 6 blown. It wasn't that noticeable earlier. It is now. I replaced it & all is now fine.

Was it the fuse solve the problem? Wow, glad that I could actually help someone!
