Cooler Thermostat
I have read suggestions in other forums that installing a thermostat that opens at 80 C, rather than my stock 85 C, would keep the engine and the a/c cooler. Has anyone done this, or does anyone have any thoughts on the down side of doing so?
I once installed a Paxton supercharger on a 1992 Camaro Z-28 and Paxton recommended that I install a cooler thermostat (180 F v. 195 F), just to trick the computer into running richer, in order to reduce the detonation caused by the 10 lbs of boost.
Maybe a cooler thermostat wouldn't do anything beneficial for the cooling, but I just wanted to get some input from more knowledgeable people.
