M103 timing pointer?
Appears this lil pointer that points the the marks on my tensioner is missing. Is that small part available or will I have to scour the yards to find one?

Forget the pointer. Adjust it by feel like you would on most cars. I haven't used or even had a pointer for years.

Tensioner pointer missing
I recently had the water pump replaced in my '86 300E. The job was done at an indy shop. The owner is a 30 yr MB mechanic but he has a young guy working for him. I don't think the young guy is much of a mechanic on the older MBs. He reinstalled the tensioner pointer so that it was buried all the way to the left (facing the engine) so you could barely find it. I repositioned it back down but I don't think it is working right.
I went back to the shop and the owner simply said to test the belt tension by feel. I wasn't too happy but didn't push the issue. I guess I'll use the manual tensioning test from now on. P.S. I also found that one of the bolts on the power steering pumps had not been tightened after that job. It was very loose. I would be reluctant to go back to that shop.
