E320 rear window - broken riser replacement

For those of you who have experienced a window dropping into the door cavity, here is a quick pictorial of how to replace the broken plastic part that rides in the rail to lift the window.

Remove the lock knob, pop out the latch and handle plastic covers and remove the screws, remove the SRS cover and remove screw & pop door panel from bottom, then lift up to release the upper clips. Some clips may fall off, so watch carefully.

Remove the speaker and disconnect the door handle light (slips upward), door light & speaker connector. Leave the cable connected to door panel and lay it to one side.

Now that you have the door panel off, you will see the window rail in the center of the door. There will be some broken white plastic pieces in the bottom of the door, this is the piece known to break. You can remove it from the window holder by pinching the black retainer piece and sliding the piece out. Buy a new piece and reverse the process.

Here are some pics.

Good Luck
