I couldnt finf Castrol Dieselall last time so i used drydene deisel oil which seems to disappear at one quart per week. before a recent trip i accidentally overfilled, maybe 1.5 quarts or 2 quarts too much. I had an 83 Ford Escort whose seal leaked tons of oil everyday after i overfilled its oil pan on a lonely Lousiana highway 18 years ago..Will this happen on my Mercedes now? This is my prize possession, I rebuilt the engine myself.

Yup, I agree with TXBILL, you should get the excess oil out. And yes it is my experience that overfilling piston engines will take out the main seal but on diesels that would be your least concern. Excess oil can cause an uncontrollable engine self destruct. You can search around and find posts on this.
