'83 280se after oil change shutting off at idling
I need some help guys, I 've had this car for a couple of weeks and just put it on the road (legally ) today. I took it for an oil change, it was well needed. right after the oil change i took it for a spin to the store, when i turned it back on at the store the idling was really rough, put it on reverse it shut off. The idling goes down to 5rpm, and slowly shuts off when on Drive or Reverse. Also, to turn it on i have to hit the gas. I was thinking it might be that the oil is too lean 10w30? That was recommended to me at autozone.
Any ideas?

Sounds like something has been changed during the oil change that has caused your idle-control to be out of whack. Since you didn't, apparantly, do the oil change yourself, can you go back and question who did on what they touched? I don't think the oil has anything to do with what you are describing.

I did and he said he could not find the issue. I watched the whole process myself, was there when he did the work 'cause he was teaching me. We also topped off the steering fluid and break fluid. any idea what could've been affected during the change?
Thanks

Okay, i'll bring it back in the garage, hopefully this afternoon. I notice that stalling happens more often when the car is hot, last night driving home i had no issues but just lower rpms as soon as i would make a stop on Drive. Yesterday, when the car was hot, it would just turn off as soon as i made a stop on Drive. The rpms just would drop.
About the oil, should i just do another oild change with the right oil or can i still drive it with what it already has until the next oil change? and if i do drain it out does that mean i must change oil filter as well? I do not know much about this stuff . Thank you!

Wrong oil weight causing shutdown?
Autozone giving THAT kind of advice?

well, it seems is not the oil causing the shutdown. and yeah autozone did give that advice. it had to be a chick too, no offense i'm a chick myself, but obviously she doesn't know her trade .

10W30 should be fine until the next oil change, this is not causing the drop in RPM. Does the car start and idle fine ?

The car starts and idles fine on park and it idles fine when it's not too hot (at the beginning to its day). The drop happens when it gets hot and driven around for a while, only when on a full stop on D/R. When it's hot and on park, it idles at around 10rpms steady.
Thanks

Does it happen only when the brake pedal is depressed ? What happens if you are in Drive or Reverse and you have the hand brakes on ?

Actually, yes. It did happen when hand brake was pressed.
I just put new sparks plugs in it, and there was a considerable change in terms on engine power. Before it felt very weak, now you can feel the power. I'm planning, also, to have my fuel injectors cleaned next week, just in case the problem is there.

So I'm still with my predicament, so far I got spark plugs changed, cleaned fuel injectors.
I took it today for a highway ride, average speed 75. It ran good, yet after turning off the engine for about 20mins, it did not want to start. I had to gas it in order for it to turn on and that did not even matter because it would shut right off. After my third try, it kept running but when I put it on reverse it didn't move at all, even tho I was hitting the gas and shut right off. I also notice that there was oil on the head gasket. This happens when it gets really really hot, and it's idling only. I noticed the temp was going up after the highway ride, going on lower speeds. Any suggestions?

I am not very familiar with this car BUT looking at some information about the engine in this car I found that this car has an oil temperature sensor which is located near the oil filter. I find it interesting that your problems, which appear to be related to a warm engine, correlate well with an oil change. Is it possible that the wire on that sensor came loose or got cut ?
