SRS light flickering

Hi guys. When it rains it pours. I just love this site, I get great info. Okay, now my 1986 560SL is acting up when it comes to the SRS light. Seriously it has been raining like crazy here in Dallas and thought maybe the water has caused this...could it just be a bad sensor or do I need to worry? Any thoughts? Thank you all.

When does the light flicker?? when the steering wheel is moved?

There is a voltage supply computer box located next to the seat belt mounting on the drivers floor board. Water can & does get into that area.

if my mem serves that box is mounted with the plug or open end up and it should have been set up with plug down.as M.B.DOC said water does get into this area of the car.

Thank you Doc and David

As of this morning, it stopped flickering and now the light has stayed on. I will check the box on the drivers side floor board and see what I can find. I will keep you posted. Just one of my pet peeves, do not like to see lights that light up on the dash.

Thanks so much!

Talking Low Voltage

Does it only flicker when the brake is applied?

If so, with the weather being rainy and hot in Texas you probably been running the wipers, headlights, A/C, blower fan and lord knows what else. Placing a draw on the system.

The SRS light will come on during a low voltage situation this is I believe number 8 on it’s programmed faults. The fix is a good alternator and a hot battery.

Hope This Helps!
