W210 rear seat removal

Yeah, I read the recent thread, but I can't get the dang rear seat bottom cushion to come up! I find two "handholds," one by each door near the side of the footwell. Supposedly a few pounds of pressure will pop this thing up? I've given both sides a good yank and it hasn't budged a bit. I'm scared to pull much harder, for fear of breaking something.

Does anyone have a photo of what the rear of the cabin looks like with the seat out? For a temporary purpose, I was curious if a cut sheet of plywood or flat surface could be created back there, to increase storage room while there is no need for the seating.

Also, we have had a LOT of rain here in Texas the last few days, and my car smells like death. I may post another thread -- I don't feel anything wet, but something must be mildewing or rotting. Yuck!

Thanks for any tips on getting this thing loose.

Cheers, John

I just removed mine yesterday. Pull UP on the handles, and then pull UP on the cushion. Don't pull forward on the cushion until it is dislodged (you have to pull up to do this). If yours is really that difficult to remove then I am guessing somebody may have really jammed it in there. The seat is supposed to be very easy to remove because your battery is located under there. Seriously, something doesn't sound right.

Got it, thanks. It must have been jammed up a bit, because I just had to get braver with my pull and yank it on out.

There was all kinds of junk under there. Apparently the prior owner liked Ninja Turtle trading cards.

Thanks for the help.

Cheers, John

We must have had the same PO. If you're really lucky, you'll discover all kinds of treasures behind the sliding drawer in the center armrest, too. I think I found $1.25 in mine.
