Hello all!

I'd like to find an old MB truck, say 1970s vintage to convert into a flatbed for my own personal use (and also for when I open up my MB shop!). Anyone know of a dealer anywhere in the country who specializes in these types of trucks? We have a Freightliner/MB truck dealer in Cleveland but they rarely deal with MB trucks anymore, mainly Frieghtliners nowadays.

Aaron,

A unimog would certainly be a possibility, but if you ever drive one you'll probably agree that it is more like driving a tractor than like driving a truck.

If you want an MB truck you can get around in well and use it on an every day basis, your best bet will probably be something from Europe. There are so few MB trucks of the size you're looking for in the US, it will be difficult to find one.

Good luck,

MB trucks have been very popular for export to Central America. Look around Houston and San Antonio for dealers or others that may have some of these. Big Truck Trader Magazine usually has a few. Supply and demand being what it is, they seem a little pricy sometimes. Larry, civilian Unimogs were originally meant to serve a dual purpose: as both field tractors and farm to market trucks.

Thank you gentlemen for your replies. Scott, the one in Tamps looks just about right. Hmm, perhaps a trip to Florida is in the making. And hell, while I'm at it, might as well find another old MB to haul home on my flatbed! I guess it probably isn't a tilt back type, so I'll figure out some sort of ramp system to get cars on and off of it.
