SRS lit on steering Air bag installed on E320 1997

SRS lit on steering Air bag installed on E320 1997

I have this 1997 E320 that I had the airbag module and steering wheel airbag replaced. Now the SRS lite is on and I have taken to my mechanic who has the proper computer & figures out the proper codes for it. Yet he says there seems to be no communication. Do I need to check the fuses and/ or there is something else. Please help! thanks
