Hi,
I will be getting my 190E back from the shop in the next
few days. The estimate for valve job and timing chain
with top rail is $1700.00. Is this a fair price for this work????

Second question, an associate at work said when he did a
valve job on another vehicle the resulting work blew
out the bottom end, is this likely on my car with 207,000K.

The shop is using some chemical in the cylinders to
free up any sticling or carboned rings.

Your comments, Please.

I'm not a tech, but from what I have read on this site for the last 7-8 months, mercedes bottom ends are usually very reliable.

I haven't read a story at least I don't think I have yet about a bottom end blowing out. Valve stems and seals, head gasket, timing, etc, are all that I read about.

Any other brand of car, I'd agree the bottom could possibly go out, but then again, it could last for a 100k or more befoe it does.

If your shop is good, and you are hapy with their work, and they are good at what they do, you will end up happy.

Alon

Quoted from Ashman,
"I'm not a tech, but from what I have read on this site for the last 7-8 months, mercedes bottom ends are usually very reliable. "

This is good to know I was looking forward to another
100K before doing bottom end. Thanks for the info,

Gary
