Have an '87 560SEL 124,000. Been running badly very rough at low speeds 30-75, smooths out over 75. Replaced plugs, cap, rotor, ignition wires still ran badly. Took it to the local dealer for diagnosis. Diagnosis says no fuel delivery to injector #3, bad fuel spray pattern from all other injectors. Need all new injectors, plus new fuel distributor. Total estimate $1,700. I've owned 5 MB vehicles, gas and diesel never had a fuel distributor go bad. Do they just stop delivering fuel to one injector when about to fail? My thoughts are to replace injectors myself, and check what the result is? Any ideas, how difficult a job to replace injectors?

Have you tried a fuel injctor cleaner? There is an excellent one available at the dealer. I have used it but I forget the name. Also available at BMW dealers. Do not use the cheap "auto parts" store stuff.
