Mercedes-Benz S350TD 1996 LHD Anti-Theft System

I am having problems when I try to start my car. The Anti-Theft system comes on and some how cuts the fuel supply. Also the green & red lights on the drivers rear view mirror flashes on and off for approx 20 Seconds. Does any one know whats wrong and how to fix? Robin.J.hillman@btinternet.com

is there any chance you may be squeezing the remote button before turning the key in the ignition? If not, make sure you are disarming the alarm, prior to entering the vehicle. the alarm will be activated by either turning the key or stepping on the break pedal. the flashing lights are important, if they flash together, or alternately, can indicate a weak battery in your remote key.

I can assure you am not pressing the remote while turning the key & the battery in the remote is new. The battery in remote was the first thing I changed. Do you know where the Anti-theft system is located on this vehicle ?

Sorry forgot to tell you that the lights on the rear view mirror dont flash togeter.
