My car's trunk lock would not open so the body shop drilled it out. I have a lock from another w124 and am wondering if anyone has had it reconfigured to the original key? If I had the matching key to the spare lock I'd probably use it as-is.

What I've usually done in this sort of case is go to the junk yard - find a 124 with all the locks + keys and pull them all (the 2 door locks, the trunk, and the ignition.) This way you have a complete set and only have to carry 1 key.
If you do this - remember to write down the VIN of the car so that you could order more keys if you ever needed to.

Just find a good locksmith and have them mate the cylinder to the key. Changing all the cylinders is a really bad idea!
