Unhappy 92 2.3 190 Fuel Pressure/Delivery Issue

I have a 92 190 2.3.....
This is what I know about this issue. Car was running fine, I go in the store...come back out and try to start, car starts for 1 second and I hear what sounds like a vacuum hose pop off?!?! I go to start the car and it will not start. Car turns over fine. I took it to a friend of mines shop and he checks the fuel pump/fuel pressure. The car is producing 85 psi up to the injection unit however the fuel pressure is not popping off the injectors?!?! Has spark, and car starts when you spray carb cleaner into the throttle body?!? My friend's repair manuals do not go into detail about the 92 2.3 because from what I hear... that engine was very limited production in US that year. Could someone please provide some feed back as this is my daily driver and I need her back!
PS...If you could please provide a picture diagram of the injection system and possible fixes I'd appreciate it!!!!

I can't quite comprehend the sound of a vacuum hose popping off. The sound I would expect would be a hissing with the engine running, but if it won't start, you would not get that either. Can you describe the sound better?

I would pull the air cleaner (three nuts) and have someone observe the airflow meter vane while trying to start. It should deflect a bit from rest. If it does not, you will get no output flow from the injectors because the fuel distributor will keep the secondary pressure below the cutoff pressure of the valves in the injector inlets. If the plate does not deflect, you may have a very major vacuum leak. If it DOES deflect, your primary fuel pressure may be too low.

While you are in there with the air filter - make sure that the foam insulation isn't falling off and clogging the air flow sensor.

On my 190E 2.3 it really needed to get vacuumed out.

Probably was a backfire. Since this is the result of a lean mixture - now too lean to run - the checks I mentioned are appropriate. Could be wrong, but I believe primary pressure should >90 psi.
