Brake wear sensor
If I choose to bypass the function of the brake wear sensor, should the wires to the pad be shorted, or left open? Or, just ignore the idiot light. This for an 89 300e. From the picture at Phils place, it appears that the wire could just be cut, or completly removed. Any info would be appreciated.......

The sensor is only a couple of bucks and is a pretty handy feature. I'd reinstall it.
I've seen them clipped and the end wrapped so it doesnt make contact with metal to disable IIRC. |
The brake sensor lets you know that you need to replace your brakepads. If you chose to ignore it you could damage your rotors. So I would check out your brakepads.

super easy to trouble shoot if there is a short causing the light to turn on and the brake pads are good. I would repair it for sure.:)
