Ever-Wear Engine Treatment

I ran across this stuff the other day. It's not the same as snake oil.
The directions say that immediately prior to an oil change, pour the solution into the crankcase, idle engine for about 5 minutes, then change oil and filter as normal and fill with clean oil.
The theory is that it removes oil sludge and deposits that will rinse out immediately with the removal of the old oil.

What do you guys think??

Don't know about that stuff but seems like an odd name for what you say it's supposed to do.

To change the subject slightly, I think I remember reading an article a couple of years ago in consumer reports about the Slick 50 engine treatment though. There was a test with taxi cabs,with and without the treatment,in a big city, maybe New York. I think that tests showed no differences. I also seem to remember that they were forced to stop making claims of extended engine life. Ever since I've been wary of spending good money on that sort of thing.

Personally I worry about of the "cleaner" type additives that goes in the oil or coolant. Seems like there is potential for more damage than good...and can you really believe some the claims that are made?

Motor oils available today already have additives to keep trash suspended in the oil when you are changing it. Also, if you change your oil often, you should not have any sludge or deposits in the engine. Per Larry Bible's motto: change it hot and often.

IMHO, all oil additives are just snake oil.
