W201 Door Check 1993 190E 2.6

I purchased a door check online thinking this would be an easy repair (drivers door). Took off door panel and does not appear to be any way for me to get to the door check without a total disassembly (window reg, window, vac components). Is this correct, or am I missing something? You would think they would have left it hollow similar to my R107.

Any help on making this repair would be appreciated...

Yes, you are missing something. I replaced my door checks on both front doors and only had to remove the panel. After removing the 2 hold down bolts, I was able to reach in and pull them out through an access hole. I have small hands, so that helps too.
