Good day to all,
Does anyone have any idea which online store carries the X-66 decarbonizer? Its made by AC Delco by the way. Please let me know, thanks! ![]() Mervyn 1983 W126 (280SEL) |

Hi Mike,
I did read that post. In fact, I've read ALL posts on X-66, Motorvac and decarbonizers. I've searched the internet too, but somehow the X-66 seems elusive. Will now try GM dealerships, wish me luck. ![]() Mervyn |

I have some of this in my garage right now. As soon as I get home from the office, I'll post the GM part number. The product I have is in the aerosol can, but from what I understand, it's the same formulation as the kind in the standard can.

Hi Allison,
Thanks for the reply. If I'm not wrong, the part number should be "1050002". I got the number from articles about X-66 on the internet, however, none of them mentioned specifically where to get them from! Hope you have some ideas on this, thanks! Mervyn ![]() 1983 W126 (280SEL) |

Actually, I got mine from my local Olds/Cadillac dealer. They had several cases in stock and sold for around $7.00 per can.
I you go to a GM dealer, tell them you are looking for "Top Engine Cleaner". They will know exactly what you are talking about. There are two types -- one is a aerosol and the other has a screw-off top. Either way, it is an excellent product.

Lance,
Did you use this on your diesel? If so, how did you introduce the chemical to the engine? Did you use aerosol or liquid? Did you notice any improvements? I have a 1991 300D I would like to use this on. I have used the GM Top Engine Cleaner on my race car, because the 116 octane blue gas cruds things up. |

I haven't used this on my diesels. Not sure if it would be good for them or not, as it actually gets burned in the combustion process. It does make for quite a show on gas cars. After the car drains the can, you are supposed to let the car sit for awhile (15-20 min). Then go drive it. Remember in the old days the saying.."blow those cobs out"... well, you'll see what that means.
Maybe someone here would have experience using this product with their diesels, but personally, I have not.

I have used this only on gas cars, but would like to try it on my diesel. I am just a little bit apprehensive about doing so.

Where does it do it's work
Brothers of The Benz
The "Top Engine Cleaner, X-66", where do they clean? Is it totally in the combustion chamber or does it clean pre-combustion chamber? If it does the cold side of the intake valves, and it's as good as everyone is exclaiming for only $7.00, then this may be the cat's whiskers. Any of us doing any highway driving and who with the Interstate Systems doesn't; then the combustion chambers should be pretty clean. It's the cold side of the intake valves that need the attention. Boys:
I'd love some more info on this too!!! I've got an M103 in my 190E and it stumbles a bit when I first start it in the morning. I'd love to clean the intake plenum since I saw some carbon around the throttle body when I was cleaning the air cleaner.
I'd love to try the X-66. Mike McKinney

The Aerosol Type
Brother of the Benz, Shyne
Over the years I haven't been much for snakeoil remmodies, but in the case it sounds appealing. My 1987 300E is nasty there too! I believe the spray can for cleaning the intake plenum, sprayed while the engine is running. Then possibly the liquid can for pouring in the intake to gain application to the cold side of the intake valves. Finally drowning the engine with the cleaner. I believe you let it soak for a time; then start it to remove the cleaner and any carbon that has been softened. Worth a try and cheap! Happy Trails Beep Beep from The Spiderman in Houston!!! |

The real question is, can you use it on a diesel?

?
Brother of The Benz, cj
You have to look into your combustion ignition engine and ask, what will another volitale substance do to my combustion process? What is the compression ignition of this X-66? Will it ignite or will the engine experience a hydro-static lock? Something will have to either give, go BOOM or BBBBOOM! Ima don't know either! Shout real loud and maybe the answer will come back.
