Angry '86 190E 2.3-16V Transmission woes. Need help please.

Hello,

Maybe you can help me. I have a 190E 16v manual trans. I was in first gear with the clutch pressed.....as I let it out, the car starts to move forward then all of a sudden the transmission sounded as if something came loose. Now it is making a clunking noise mixed with a grinding noise. You can feel it with the gear shift knob too. Note, that the car still gets into gear and can be driven at slow speeds, so I don't beleive it is the clutch. I know this can be a number of things, but i was just wondering if anyone has encountered this similar problem. Please help me if you can. Thank you.
