I removed the drive shaft on my 1990 300CE.
I did not loosen the clamping nut-41 or 46mm
wrench as I did not have one.
I did mark the alignment between the front and rear
shaft prior to removing it.
While removed the rear disc and then gently pulled,
the rear shaft seoperated from the front shaft.
Does this mean that the clamping nut was tight
enough? Apparently the rubber sleeve had cracks
in it.
I will replace the center bearing and rubber sleeve.
What tools do I need to remove the center bearing?
Do I need to tighten the clamping nut and who might
have this wrench?
Any suggestions would be helpful.
Regards
Barry
