Osram Hyper bulb vs Philips Vision Plus
I bought H7 Osram Hyper 65W/2100 Lumens for '00 E430 From Daniel Stern. Comparing this new bl\ulb with standard H7 and Philips Vision Plus by way of 1 bulb in one headlight, the other bulb in the other headlight, turn on headlight on a dark street to see which one give more light on the road.
Philips VP vs Standard: Philips VP is about 25%-30% brighter than standard bulb and it is whiter too. Osram Hyper vs Philips VP: Osram is about 15%-20% brighter than Philips but not whiter. Osram Hyper vs Standard: Osram is about 40%-50% brighter than standard bulb, it also whiter. Conclusion: Osram Hyper H7 is generating a lot more light than standard H7, but it also consumes about 20% more power and it may not last as long, and it costs about 3 times the standard one. The most bang for the money is Philips Vision Plus or Osram Silver Star. Also, please note that Osram Hyper is available only in H7, not H4. |

H7 Tests
Was the pattern identical in all your tests? Good job.

Yes, all the light pattens are identical, the only differences are the brightness. Bightest is the Osram Hyper it is also the most expensive and consumes the most power at 65W. Standard bulb cost the least and generates the least light. This comparison is for H7 type bulb only, and the light it generates is about 30% more than the standard H4 bulb at low beam. The one thing I like about all these 3 bulbs is they do not have the look of cheap blue bulbs. If you think about having spare bulbs for emergency, then buying the plus 50 type bulbs such as Philips Vision Plus or Osram Silver Star to replace the current bulb, and use it as spare is the most cost effective. I am using Philips Vision Plus as spares for now. When the Osram Hyper is burn out, I will replace it with Philips and using OE bulbs as spares. I may not need to buy new H7 bulbs for a long time unless they have new design that generates more light.
