distributor adjustment - 190 2.3
My mechanic told me my distributor position had been moved and needs to be set. He told me the distibutor setting does not alter the timing, but only how the rotor lines up with the contacts in the cap.
Does anybody know the correct procedure for adjucting the distributor so it will line up correctly? It runs a little rough at idle, but fine while driving. It seems to me that the spark is working hard to make the jump between the rotor & cap. Thanks in advance jmlynick Berkshires, MA |

The engine must be rotated to TDC on #1 cylinder compression stroke (marks on balancer), and at that point the centerline of the rotor must align with a "punch" mark on the aluminum housing of the distributor.
To see the punch mark the black plastic cover beneath the rotor must be moved.
