E320 battery replaced

Hey,I replaced my battery and my radio is looking for a code before I
can play any tunes. Don't have a code or know what it wants?
Help or ideas appreciated!

It came on a card with the car when it was new. The dealer can supply it as well, with proof of ownership. I would remove the radio and record the serial number, in case it had been changed.

The code is listed in the radio manual that came with the car. If you lost it, you are screwed. If you contact MB and provide them with the VIN number and proving ownership of the car, they may provide it. You can also remove the radio. There is a serial number on it. MB may need that to provide the code.

Oh, and whatever you do, don't just try to guess. After a few wrong entries, the radio must be left powered on for 24 hours before another attempt.

If you ever had service done at a dealer, the radio code is on the service ticket/receipt.

Sokoloff, I also disconnected my battery and now looking for my radio code. I looked at old MB dealer invoices and do not see a radio code. What is it called? Thanks, John

The MB dealer invoice may show "RC:" followed by a four or five digit number. Your Owner's Manual describes the procedure for entering the code and reactivating the radio.

Catalina30 = you're right. I just looked again and my radio code is listed on the VMI that the dealer did for me, not the invoice. Sorry about that, but on the other hand, if you've never had the dealer do a VMI for you, ask him next time you go by.

It's a Vehicle Master Inquiry that can be done at a dealer. I've never had a dealer not do one for me and they have never charged me for it. It lists every warranty repair ever done on the car and gives all of the vehicle ID information including radio code, etc. I find it a very useful document to have.

I needed my radio code yesterday and couldn't find my VMI. Fortunately, one of the techs wrote it on the last page of my Service Manual (it comes with all the other manuals). It just had xx and the 5 digits.
