I use Techron by Chevron occasionally in my vehicles and they seem to run smoothly. I have heard from several mechanics this product is the one to use.
Good Luck, -GH |

I think its all snake oil. The fuel injector cleaner you buy at Autozoo all smells like Kerosene.

Got to autozone, pep boys, advance auto, walmart etc.. They usually have a wall full of stuff you can add there is stuff there that will clean combustion chambers, un clog injectors, recondition seals, clean throttle bodies, prevent vapor lock and fuel freezing, increase octane most of the stuff is patented or patent pending or DOT approved so it has to work right? .........................................................NOT

i've had very good success with bg44k. as a maintenance item you can use the techron stuff. do not overuse the stuff. about one addative per oil change. i'm strictly a chevron gas user as this stuff cures alot of issues.

I run Chevron premium fuel virtually all the time and add a bottle of Techron to the gas tank every time I change the oil. Vehicles run great, plugs come out very clean and emissions are ridiculously low. Same stuff sanctioned by MB, in their service documentation.
Cheers, Jeff

I don't think there's a Chevron station anywhere near me at all, and I usually use crap gas. As a result, its additives typically make me wary so I add a bottle of Techron every oil change. All of my vehicles run great and the last time I used it in the Jeep I noticed it started easier and idled smoother.
Some people will say all additives are snake oil, and others swear by it. To me, $5 every oil change is a small chance to take when a multi-thousand dollar vehicle is on the line. There are also people who skimp on oil changes or use dino oil to save what, $150 a year... There are 2 real choices as far as anyone here is concerned. Techron or BG44K. And I dont mean "Here" as in "This thread thus far", I mean on this entire forum. 4000 more posts here will only yield more people saying to use one of the 2, or saying they're useless and their best friend's mom's brother's Thundercougarfalconbird ran for 2,000,000 miles with none of it.

I like BG44K. I believe it is a solvent-type cleaner, rather than a detergent one. It seems much more effective. Everybody I know and respect as mechanics seem to swear by it.

I have used almost all of the additives in may cars. I never noticed anything with techron and BG44k, I used twice on my current car. I did get probably the best gas mileage I ever got when I rain bg44k the first time, but the second time I noticed nothing. Regardless of this I still will use techron and Bg44k every once in a while.

Simple answer on this one.
IF your injectors are not gummed/varnished up, you will not notice any benefit from cleaning solutions. The idea is to keep them that way by using a good quality gasoline ( higher octane rated brand -name gasoline usually contains more additives/cleaners, then cheap stuff ).

Second That
See foam all the way. My Mazda 929s couldn't do a 110mph, then after 2 sea foaming... I hit 130mph 4300 lbs car I figure other additives are just as good, but I really like seafoam. Another thing is the PO never drove the car hard, and had a lot of carbon build up. Man did she smoke!

we use sea foam at work for our concrete pumps .. the older pumps tend to get sludge build up in the diesel tank .. since we started using it no build up or clogged fuel lines have been a problem ..

After reading all these comments, I am convinced.
I compared the price of 12 gallons of Arco regular - which I usually use and guys on the racing circuit swear by - plus a $10 bottle of Techron, with the rip-off Chevron station down the road and 12 gallons of their Supreme w/Techron. I hate to say it, but the rip-off Chervron station was $5 cheaper. So what to do? Find the cheapest Chevron station and occasionally fill up w/Supreme and have done with it. |
