Just bought this car, a 116 chasis with a factory 4 speed manual trans! Unbelievable! I love the way it accelerates, especially over 3000rpm, it just howls! Anyways, I need some tech info, I want to swap this engine into a 1978 US spec 280 SE, will the fuel injection etc be compatible? There is no pollution equipement on this car (no cat nothing). Is the compression ratio higher on euro cars? How would I find out the gearing and final drive ratios for this car? My big plans are to use the manual in a 300SD turbo diesel...at a later date. Thanks for any input

Sould be no problem with fuel system compatability till 1980 when K-Jet w/Lamba started.
The Euro cars often have higher compression but there are low compression versions.
