p0170/p0173 codes

I read a buch of answers for the above codes
My quetion is on a 2000 sl if the engine light comes on with these codes
will the light go off if the problem is corrected
or do I need to clear the codes
Any help would be appreciated on this answer
because I think I can solve it easier if when cured it goes out by itself
Before I loose my sanity
Mike

Many people suggest to have the " Adaption Values " reset ( dealer job ).
Others say the fault will eventually go away, but it may take a while.

I believe that code will clear itself if doesnt re-appear after the third cold/hot run cycle.

The car should adapt to the a new or newly cleaned MAF within approx 50 miles of driving.

Thanks for the help
I believe this will be easier to see what caused the code
Every time I been reseting it and it takes a while before I get another code
I want to change the gaskets first
see if that knocks code off
As a last resort I am getting new mafs
I don't know why but I think its going to be the mafs
Its always the higher priced item otherwise I would have corrected it
Being cheap always takes longer to do repair
Again thanks for the tip
Mike
