2000 E430 fuel system not holding pressure
I looked through the DIY forum, and did a search, but can't find any new info that helped.
Situation: Car has been taking longer to start than typical. Two to sometimes three starting cycles. Last night and this morning after no start on the first cycle I pressed the plunger on the fuel rail shrader valve to check for any fuel pressure and found none. Car received new fuel filter two months ago, and new fuel pump two days ago. The fuel pressure regulator for this car is in the fuel filter. I'm *thinking* it's the fuel pressrue regulator that's in the fuel filter. I have another fuel filter to install, but before I do I would like to know if there is somewhere else the fuel pressrue could be bleeding off to? It's not going by an injector and bleeding into a cylinder. Engine runs like a top once started. Many thanks. |

Best to use a reputable brand filter.
And ORIGINAL hose clamps.

All of my parts are OEM. This filter came from the dealership and cost $90.

I'm having a problem with my '85 380SL....I stored it for about a year. Now I try to start it and the battery is fine, but it doesn't seem to be getting fuel. If we our a little gas in through the air filter, she starts then dies.
Where is the fuel filter? Maybe it is clogged. I have no idea! I'll get it started then take it in for a service. Any direction appreciated... |

Sounds like ....
it could be the fuel pressure regulator which you say is part of the fuel filter. Did you install the filter yourself? You might be able to get some consideration from the MB dealer on a new on as there should be a warranty on the part. Seems like you could put some back pressure on the filter to show that the regulator is failing.
